Frog Artistic Flowers – Beautiful Florist in Manchester

126_8683456Today we’re blogging about Frog, the amazing artistic florist based in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Not only do they create statement pieces for weddings, but other events too, as well as fashion shoots and installations. From a simple statement to exuberant exhibitions, Frog offers a tailor-made service with a reputation for personal attention and care.

As for the history bit, ‘French born artist David Jayet-Laraffe moved to Manchester in 1998, with a passion for flowers and a natural eye for design, and started learning floristry. After working for an international florist, he knew exactly where he wanted to go and decided to open a floral artistry studio mixing his love for flowers, fashion and art. Frog was born.
Since 2007, Frog has been making a real statement, creating and sculpting floral arrangements for an array of clients: weddings, events, fashion shoots, installations, collaborations…’

Take a look at their gorgeous website, we swooned over the images in the photo galleries, so much inspiration can be taken from these images. Ideas for not only flowers, but also colour palettes and styling. To me, each image looks like a page in Vogue magazine. Truly divine.

David is clearly a flower genius and you can see by the excellent reviews on the site that his work is simply ‘WOW’, artistic floristry to perfection. Some of Frog’s corporate clients include Manchester Art Gallery, Manchester Museum, Stock Restaurant, Room Restaurant and Trevor Sorbie.

We’re wondering whether we can squeeze a display in Cute Maps HQ!

Room, Manchester: A Luxurious City Centre Venue

1_3738275Fab Local Business Alert!

Cute Maps are seeking out some gorgeous ‘wedding related’ (!) businesses in and around the Manchester area (because Manchester is so great), that we think our followers will love.

This time, a Wedding Venue in the heart of Manchester City Centre’s fabulous King Street, one of the most important thoroughfares in Manchester. Formerly the centre of the North-West’s baking industry, it’s now known for its luxurious high end shops and eateries.

‘Room’, a grade II listed building sits magnificently on the corner of King Street and Spring Gardens, in and amongst a hub of architectural bliss opposite the likes of Rosso, Vivienne Westwood and Jamie’s Italian.

Room offers three packages to suit various budgets and tastes, starting at £49.50 per person for the Silver Package menu, which sounds truly amazing, then up to £65.50 for the Platinum menu. They rightly state that “we are all different, so there is always room for personal preference”, which is great to know.

Room are able to accommodate for smaller parties of up to 58 guests for a sit down meal, and up to 100 for the evening drinks reception in the private function room: The Rose Room. And for those of you with lengthier guest list, they can sit 120 guests for the meal and up to 220 people in the main restaurant on an exclusive use basis.

Not only is this grandiose Manchester architecture at its best, but the interior design is truly decadent. Oodles of traditional period features teamed with opulent wallpaper, dark woodwork and the amazing light that pours in through the arched windows, gives the rooms and incredibly rich, special yet cosy feel. We really think that this is the perfect location if you want that ‘city feel’ to your wedding day, a great balance between pure decadence and buzzing city centre excitement.

We Love Slattery’s Amazing Fantastic Wedding Cakes!

5_7925032On the Cute Maps blog we want to inform our followers of some amazing local businesses in and around Manchester. It’s so important to support local, and the businesses that we’ll feature truly are fantastic at what they do. We’re homing in on bespoke Wedding cakes today, which can be found at Slattery’s in Whitefield, Manchester.

Many of you from the area may have already visited this gorgeous building, for the purpose of experiencing it’s amazing café/dining area and splendid shop which first opened it’s doors over 40 years ago on Bury New Road, Whitefield. I, myself had a wonderful time in Masons Dining Room, supping one of the best hot chocolates I’ve ever had (and yes, I am a connoisseur! The glass mug is coated with melted chocolate and then filled with hot milk, yum!) and munching gorgeous moist chocolate fudge cake, surrounded by ornate Tiffany lamps and the Grand piano.

It’s a little slice of heaven.

6_9591701However, its not exclusive to chocoholics (although, it helps!) The Dining Room offers breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas as well as drinks and cakes.

What you may not be aware of is their vast selection of wedding cakes on offer, all bespoke, based on your own ideas or something that you have seen displayed in the shop or their extensive portfolio of images. They also have a viewing window into the production area so you can see the cake decorators in action!

The chocolate finished cakes are just simply incredible; they can even incorporate chocolate which can be coloured to match your wedding theme, so yes, they can pick out details in a pink, violet or even blue chocolate! Imagine! Some of our favourites are the Ruffle cake and the Blache with flowers (the stripy milk and white chocolate cigarillos). All the chocolate wedding cakes are created using the highest quality Belgian chocolate. Most designs can be created in milk, white or dark chocolate or even a combination of different chocolates. They are show-stoppingly wonderful, this certainly would be the centre-piece on the big day!

Traditional Iced Wedding cakes are of course part of the offering which can be altered and adapted to suit your colours and scheme, or a bespoke design can be created to cater specifically to your requirements. The novelty cakes are fabulous and just so skilfully crafted, as well as cupcakes, on-trend cake pops, edible wedding favours and cake toppers. There is a great selection of fillings too and you can mix it up within the layers, we like the sound of one chocolate filled, one vanilla with jam and butter cream, and one and lemon filled! (We’re not greedy at all.) See the images below to view some of Cute Maps faves.

Whether or not you need a fantastical wedding cake, Slattery’s is an absolute must-visit, this is artisan chocolate and deliciousness  at it’s best. The shop serves a whole host of splendid treats which make wonderful gifts too. Check out their website at http://www.slattery.co.uk/
